"We recently wrapped up an incredible tour of Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam, and we couldn't be happier with our decision to book through SS Travels. They completely delivered on every single promise."
Baramulla is a much bigger district than most travellers realize — here's how Gulmarg fits into it, and what makes this route genuinely different from the rest of a Kashmir circuit.
Unlike Ganderbal, which is a smaller district built mostly around the Sonamarg route, Baramulla is one of Kashmir's larger and more significant districts — historically important, sitting along the Jhelum River, with Baramulla town itself functioning as a real population and administrative centre, not just a stop on the way to somewhere else.
Gulmarg, the actual tourist destination most people are searching for, is a small hill town within this much larger district — geographically and administratively part of Baramulla, but a genuinely separate place in character from Baramulla town itself.
This is the real point worth knowing if you're comparing Kashmir destinations by season. Sonamarg's access road closes for much of winter. Gulmarg does the opposite — winter is when it gets busiest, since it's Kashmir's main skiing and snow sports destination. If you're planning a Kashmir trip specifically for the snow season, Gulmarg is the one core destination that stays fully open and arguably more worth visiting than in summer.
In warmer months, Gulmarg is about the Gondola cable car and open meadows — a scenic, relatively relaxed stop. In winter, the same town becomes genuinely active: skiing, snowboarding, and the kind of snow activities that don't exist anywhere else on a standard Kashmir circuit. It's worth telling us which season you're travelling in, since what we'd recommend doing there changes significantly.
Whether you're including Gulmarg as part of a full circuit or specifically planning a winter trip built around it, this is one of the most requested parts of our standard itinerary. We arrange transportation from Srinagar, hotel stays suited to the season, and — for winter visitors — can include our Gulmarg ski course for genuine first-timers.

"One of the best travel agencies in Kashmir. Their management is superb, drivers are highly professional and hotels are well maintained."
"Brilliant service, they took really good care of my family. Looking forward to another tour with them."
Yes. Gulmarg falls within Baramulla district, one of Kashmir's larger districts, though Gulmarg itself is a small hill town rather than the district's main population centre.
Yes, and this is a real difference from places like Sonamarg. Gulmarg stays open through winter and is actually busier during snow season, since it's Kashmir's main destination for skiing and snow activities.
Baramulla town itself sits along the Jhelum River, while Gulmarg is a separate hill town within the same district, roughly an hour's drive from Srinagar in the opposite direction from Baramulla town.
Yes. Winter is one of our busier seasons for Gulmarg specifically, including snow activities and our Gulmarg ski course for beginners.
